The karstic landscapes

The mountains of Ain, globally limestone, are split, broken, bent, wrinkled everywhere.

During centuries, the streaming water infiltrated into the rock by increasing slowly these cracks which gradually form an underground network of galleries and cavities.
On surface, they model cracks, sinkholes, losses and abysses.
